Striatic is a long-time Flickr user and one of the guys behind Photophlow, I believe (which is awesome, by the way). This was one of the first videos I came across on Flickr following their announcement on the launch of video. I know some people that I follow on Tumblr are upset about the player Flickr is using. I didn’t notice the issue myself, but I guess I can understand your point. Nevertheless, I’m excited about Flickr video. It’s going to expose original online video to a much wider audience. I’d include myself in that bucket, actually. I’ve never uploaded a video to the web. I’m much more likely to now since friends of mine - people I know and hang out with on the weekends - are on Flickr. Not all of them, but enough to make the sharing experience worthwhile. As much as I love Vimeo, my real life friends just aren’t yet using it. If I produced really creative videos, I would post them to Vimeo based on the audience. But, in terms of sharing my everyday life experiences, I want to do that where my friends are. I have no interest in posting to YouTube even though I watch videos there often. Perhaps I should do a better job recruiting friends to Vimeo.
Anyway, here are some other clips I enjoyed my first few minutes exploring video on Flick: Commute to work, Six twenty nine, I have recorder, Stupid pet trick
I’ve been a long-time user of Flickr, although I don’t post that many photos. I’ve been considering going pro for some time so I can post more photos, but Flickr Video just tips it for me. It’s too bad my friends never got into Flickr years ago. When they did have photos to post, they prefer Picasa and Facebook though. T_T
Of all the online video sharing sites, I’ve loved Vimeo’s interface the most, but I don’t really have a need to upload video to share. But photos + videos in one place? It’s much more valuable. For sure if I have any longer video, it would go on Vimeo.
